Spring Military Wedding (Katie and Bobby)

Spring Military Wedding (Katie and Bobby)

Katie first contacted me last May about her upcoming Naval Academy wedding.  Katie had found me on Instagram and loved the previous USNA weddings she had seen on Instagram as well as my website.  After talking with Katie I knew that it was going to be a pleasure and honor to photograph her spring military wedding.  With Katie planning her wedding from out-of-state the majority of our communication was by email.  So, when she let me know that she and her mom would be in town last fall, I cleared my schedule so that I could meet in person.  We spent time walking through the beautiful home (The Randell House) that they had rented for the weekend.  It was wonderful to see a mother and daughter who were both excited for the coming months and seemed to be enjoying the entire process of planning the wedding.  The week of the wedding I met with Katie and her mom again to go over the final details and timeline of the day.  After leaving the meeting I had the idea of going to their rental home a day early to photograph all of the details.  Luckily for me, their rental house was only 1 block away from where I am currently living.  This was one of the best ideas I have ever had!  I was able to take my time, I wasn’t surrounded by the wedding party, hairstylist, makeup artists and general clutter from 10 people getting ready in one house!  (It was such a great idea that I am doing it again for my next wedding that will be staying in the same house).

On the day of the wedding you could feel the excitement in the air!  Katie and Bobby chose to see each other prior to their ceremony.  The reaction on Bobby’s face was priceless as he saw Katie in her wedding dress for the first time.  Following the first look I spent some time photographing Katie and Bobby prior to walking to the Chapel.  I LOVE when I am able to photograph couples without anyone else around.  Couples tend to relax more and enjoy the time together without feeling like they need to move on to the next thing.

One of my favorite moments from the wedding occurred when one of the flower girls turned around to look at Katie as she was walking down the aisle!

Katie and Bobby chose the Chesapeake Bay Beach Club Sunset Room for their reception. They could not have made a better choice!  Not only was the room beautiful and the views spectacular.  The staff was outstanding!  I have worked at a LOT of venues and this one quickly went in my top 5 venues.

Following their first dance, we went outside for a sunset photos.  Mother nature did not disappoint!

This was a party crowd and the dance floor was packed the entire night!

Bobby and his friends serenaded Katie with “You’ve Lost That Loving Feeling”!

The beautiful day was brought to a close with a sparkler exit!

Thank you to Katie and Bobby for allowing me the pleasure of photographing your beautiful spring military wedding!
