I believe that real moments create the best images! The kinds of images that remind you of the joy that can be found in the simplest of moments together. I believe in images that are begging to be printed, placed in beautiful albums and hung on walls for years to come.

My first taste of photography began in the darkroom we had in our home when I was a child. I remember the excitement of watching an image come to life as my dad taught me to move the prints through the various steps of developing the film and printing the image on to photo paper. While I no longer use a darkroom, I still get excited every time I load the images to my computer after completing a shoot.

Based in Fairhope, Alabama, I photograph weddings, portraits, and headshots along the Gulf Coast, including Mobile, Gulf Shores, Orange Beach, and Pensacola, Florida. Whether you’re exchanging vows or documenting your family’s current season, I aim to create photographs full of emotion, beauty, and genuine connection.

The people and things that fill my heart

My Family

These people are my people! They make me laugh, they make me smile. Sometimes they even make me cry because I love them so much! We are a traveling bunch. If we are not currently on vacation, at least one of us (usually me) is busy planning our next big adventure. We also love nights at home playing games, laughing at stories from the past, enjoying delicious food and most of all just spending time together.

Maverick

A few fun facts about Maverick. He is NOT a doodle. Maverick is a soft coated wheaten terrier. Maverick is a giant ball of fluff. He is actually only 35 pounds. Maverick loves to dance and will stand up and spin around anytime you ask him to dance (as long as you have a can of whip cream in your hand). Maverick believes he is human and likes to sit at the dinner table like a person. Maverick is very accustom to being in front of the camera since he has his own instagram account. @maverick_the_wheaten

Travel

I have visited 47 states as well as numerous other countries! While flying is my favorite form of travel, my husband has been able to persuade me to take some amazing road trips to national parks. really should add Kauai honeymoon planning to my packages since I have so many tips about Kauai that I love to share. There are so many places I still want to visit. I dream of the amazing landscapes that are just waiting for me to photograph them! Over the years I have been asked if I would consider selling images I have taken during my travels. I am happy to say that this is finally in the works!

Exercise

I never in my life would have thought I would say that exercise has a piece of my heart, but here I am saying it! I have always been active and loved water sports such as swimming, wakeboarding, and stand up paddle boarding. However, two years ago I decided to actually exercise. I did a couch to 5k program and found that I actually enjoy running. I enjoy it so much that I bought a peloton treadmill and became a peloton addict. I also fell in love with the sport of tennis and now play at least three times a week!

Friends

Friends are the family we choose. Parents, spouses and siblings love us because they are our family but a friend is someone who is initially a stranger and then takes their place in your heart. My heart is filled with love for so many friends! One of my favorite things to do with my friends is talk to them. Yes, I said talk, not text. There is nothing better then a long conversation with a friend. It could be filled with laughter, tears, confessions or just simple chat. The connection that is made when you set all other distractions aside is priceless.

A little more about me

Yes, my last name is Canon just like the camera (no, I do not use a Canon)!

I was a military brat who spent time in the Philippines and California before eventually ending up in Missouri for high school and college. I have always said I was a beach lover who was land locked in the middle of America. As you can see in my wedding galleries I had the pleasure of living and working close to the salty sea air in Annapolis, Maryland for several years before moving on to several more locations. I am now loving life in Fairhope, Alabama. Because of all of my travels and living in many places. I currently offer weddings and sessions in the following locations, Alabama, Florida, Maryland, Virginia, D.C. and Missouri. I am of course willing to travel to many more locations!
