Letters To Our Son’s July (Kansas City Photographer

Dear Son,

There is less then a month left of your summer vacation and I am not sure where the time has gone!  I am certain that when you look back upon this summer your best memory will be the week following the 4th of July.  You and dad headed out bright and early on the 5th of July for the road trip of a lifetime.  I must admit I was a little nervous watching the two of you drive away in my car.  It was filled to capacity with camping supplies, you had NO campground reservations…I was not sure what the two of you were in for as you headed off to The Badlands, Mt. Rushmore, and Yellowstone.  The only preplanned activity was a whitewater rafting excursion.  I am happy to say that with a little help from me along the way, you managed to have a campground every night and even one hotel room on the way home.  You also ended up going on two white water trips.  The sparkle in your eye as you told me how you “rode the bull” on the front of the raft was priceless!  But, the most priceless thing of all was actually hearing dad sing your praises upon your return.  He could not be more proud of you and the man you are becoming.  I believe that he was prepared for a lot of complaining about the long car rides, sleeping in the tent etc.  Instead he came home having had “the best week ever” with you.  This is one of those trips that will lead to stories for the rest of your life.  I am so happy that the two of you shared this together, and that I did NOT have to sleep in a tent for a week with the two of you!  I will stick to taking you to places like NYC where we stay in hotels.

Photo credit this month belongs to my wonderful husband and amazing son.  The pictures make me want to go see these beautiful locations just as long as I do not have to sleep in a tent.
