Letters To My Daughter (April)

In January I joined a blog circle called Letter To Our Daughters.  Some months I have known weeks in advance what I wanted to write about.  This month I had no idea until I sat down at the computer to write.  I hope you enjoy the letter and the photographs that I have included this month.

Dear Daughter,

I love that you and your brother have a very close relationship.  There are times you fight, but more times then not you are the best of friends.  You both have different interests and your own circle of friends.  Yet, you always manage to find common ground and you support each other in everything you do.  It is so nice to see that when you have your friends over to the house you include your brother and make him feel welcomed (at least for a little while).  You are not perfect and I don’t expect perfection.  The two of you fight and that is to be expected.  The great thing about fighting with a sibling is that deep down you know they will always love you!  The two of you also love to have fun together, often at my expense.  It sometimes seems as if you have an inner radar system that tells you when to align with your brother and to gang up on me.  This usually leads to the biggest smiles and laughs.

As I look at these images from our “photo session” on the beach over Spring Break I feel as if I owe both of you an apology.  I know that the evening ended with zero smiles.  I was very frustrated at the time that the two of you would not just do what I asked.  However, I now see that the smiles on your faces as you played around are priceless!

Love,

Mom

  • Such a wonderful description of the relationship that your kids have with each other. You have captured some wonderful, silly moments. Love the one of them ballroom dancing down the beach. Makes me long for some warm weather here in snowy Calgary!

  • Thank you! I too am ready for some warm weather. We did not want to come home from the beach. The day we got home we had 8 inches of snow!

  • These are so wonderful! They look like they are such good friends. You did a beautiful job capturing them 🙂

  • What an honest and heartfelt letter. Your images are truly priceless!
