Dear Son,
You are growing up so fast! This is a time in your life when it is an everyday struggle to decide if you should act “grown up” or just be a kid. There is no perfect answer as to how a 13 year old boy should act…. You know I always say to use your manners, be kind, be responsible, be respectful and polite. However, I never have to remind you to have fun! The past few days you have put more smiles on my face then you can imagine.
I am so proud of you and your friend for deciding to create 3 Boys and 3 Shovels even if it ended up only being 2 boys. You had your first two customers and you did such a good job that they paid you more then you asked for on your flier! This was the responsible “adult” version of you.
The fun crazy side of you also appeared this weekend. I do not know of anyone else who would use their snow cone syrup on real snow… Lucky for you, the dog had not been out yet 🙂 You made me laugh as you poured the syrup on the fresh snow, and then began to lick it up. You did not require a bowl or a spoon, you just enjoyed the moment and had fun with your snow cone!
I also loved watching you play with our dog. The pure joy that is on your face as you fell over and wrestled with him in the snow is priceless!
So, as you go through life, I hope that you will always be able to balance the responsible “adult” side of life with the fun”kid” side of life!
Love,
Mom
