Fairhope Engagement Session – The Grand Hotel
Maya and Gregory wanted to have a Fairhope engagement session to capture this exciting time in their lives. We selected The Grand Hotel as the location for their session. The Grand Hotels offers a wide variety of settings all within one location. In order to take advantage of the amazing sunsets that often occur along Mobile Bay, we chose to start their session an hour before sunset.
While Maya and Gregory had a 2nd outfit planned, we decided to stick with their original more formal outfits. The sun was setting fast and I did not want to miss out on the stunning sky that was appearing, I also loved the idea of having them in more formal attire along the casual setting of the white sand and rocks that I knew were waiting for us along the bay.
Maya and Gregory happily kicked off their shoes and took full advantage of the white sand along the “beach” at The Grand Hotel. The rock seawall took me back to my days of photographing countless weddings and engagement sessions at the Naval Academy in Annapolis, Maryland. This one was also perfectly placed to allow for the most amazing sunsets in the background.
After our time at the beach we moved to the pier. I loved being able to use the lines created by the railings to accentuate the layout of the images I captured during this part of the session.
Last but not least with only a few seconds of daylight left we stopped on the lawn and ended the session with a tropical feel thanks to the palm trees and the last bit of golden light.
I enjoyed every minute of this session and loved getting to know Maya and Gregory. I wish them all the best as they start their new life together!
