Old Ebbitt Grill – Washington D.C. Wedding

I first met Jake and Kelsey earlier this year when they scheduled a consultation with me for their Washington D.C. wedding.  We sat around the fountain in the atrium of Old Ebbitt Grill as they described to me how the atrium was going to be transformed into their reception venue.  As the months went on and the planning continued I could not have been more excited to photograph their wedding.  Jake and Kelsey started their wedding day at the Washington D.C. J.W. Marriott.  From there they each boarded separate trolly’s which took them to Saint Mary Mother of God Catholic Church.  As Kelsey entered the church and walked the long aisle toward Jake, he was full of emotion.  From smiles to tears of joy, Jake did not hold back and it was easy to see how excited he was to be marrying Kelsey.  Following the ceremony guests were given the opportunity to board Trolly’s for a historic tour of Washington D.C. while the wedding party boarded their own trolly which would take us to The D.C. War Memorial and the Jefferson Memorial for portraits.

Jake, Kelsey, their family and friends were amazingly flexible and patient during this portion of the day.  Imagine our surprise when we arrived with our time specific permit for the D.C. War Memorial only to find that another wedding had been issued the exact same time slot for their ceremony which was moments away from starting!  We quickly worked through the family shot list and then headed to the Jefferson to allow the other wedding time for their ceremony before we retuned back to finish the portraits.  Upon our arrival at the Jefferson Jake and Kelsey became instant celebrities as the foreign tour groups who were being dropped off at the same time started taking countless photos of the couple and even wanted selfies with them!

Upon arriving at the Old Ebbitt Grill Jake and Kelsey were able to see the spectacular transformation of the atrium!  From the drapes, to the uplighting to the florals it was all breathtaking.  Jake and Kelsey kicked off the party with their first dance as husband and wife then we snuck away to the rooftop for a few sunset photos with views of the Washington Monument.  Once we were back in the atrium family and friends shared heartfelt toasts, and the guests danced the night away to the fantastic music provided by the band Onyx.  Jake and Kelsey had a Washington D.C. wedding that dreams are made of!

Thank you to Jake and Kelsey for allowing me to be a part of your Washington D.C. wedding!
